- The 'Rationale for American National Standard for Information Systems
- -- Programming Language -- C' is not a part of the ANSI X3.159-1989
- document, assuming I interpret correctly a statement in the Rationale
- at the bottom of page 4: "this rationale is not part of the Standard."
- Also, ANSI (www.ansi.org) does not sell the Rationale as one of their
- documents.
-
- The Rationale is an important document relevant to a book I am writing
- regarding C, and I would like to add this document to the References
- section.
-
- Unfortunately, the Rationale, which is available at several Internet
- sites (I don't recall from where I got my copy: it was months ago),
- has no self-description info other than its title. More specifically,
- there are no authors (other than the 'Committee' as implied by the
- text), no year (although 1989 is probably a good guess), and no
- publisher (so how can one reliably get a copy: Web addresses, in
- general, are too fragile and transient).
-
- How does one reference this document???
-
- I want to give credit where credit is due -- and provide what I
- consider a valuable reference -- but at the moment that seems
- difficult in the case of the Rationale.
